While waiting for an oil change at the store, Kelcey Willis heard a child screaming, \u201cPlease don\u2019t beat me!\u201d The screaming continued, spurring Mr. Willis to action.<\/p>\n<p>He told WGXA that his first instinct was to grab his gun and help the boy. By trusting his instincts, Willis likely saved the kid from death or great bodily harm.<\/p>\n<p>Following the screams into the woods behind the store, he saw the man on top of a boy, choking him. Several others also heard the commotion, but it was Willis and his gun that proved the deciding factor in stopping the attack<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">That gut instinct took over Kelcey Willis when he\u2019d stopped for an oil change at the Warner Robins Walmart.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tUn7WlxFqL\">https:\/\/t.co\/tUn7WlxFqL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 WGXA (@WGXAnews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WGXAnews\/status\/1590041463529816064?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 8, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>From <a href=\"https:\/\/wgxa.tv\/news\/local\/warner-robins-walmart-kelcey-willis-haimnarie-doobay-kidnapper-rescue-macon-gun-point-police-department-houston-county-sheriffs-office\">WGXA<\/a> . . .<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cI heard the kid screaming please don\u2019t beat me so that\u2019s when my instinct kicked in some more so I sped on up to go get that kid\u201d says Kelcey Willis<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>That gut instinct took over Kelcey Willis when he\u2019d stopped for an oil change at the Warner Robins Walmart.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cAs buddy was filling us in to get our oil change we heard a little kid screaming so we turned to the corner down there and we seen him getting snatched out the car and the man was taking him behind the building. We though he was using the bathroom but it took him way too long to come back from behind the building\u201d, says Willis.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Willis says when the child kept screaming he felt he had to take action.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cThe screaming kept getting louder and louder and that didn\u2019t sit right with us. My first instinct was to grab my gun and go get that kid out the woods\u201d, says Willis.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Once in the woods, Willis says he realized the danger the child was in.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cBy the time I came around the corner he was on top of him choking him choking him and at that point I just put my gun up and held him at gun point and grabbed the kid\u201d, says Willis<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Willis was one of the several people that were there to help rescue the kid until police arrived.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Willis believes if it were not for his heroic actions and quick thinking the situation would have a different story.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cIf I ain\u2019t step in and I ain\u2019t react as fast as I did the kid would probably be dead\u2026 He would\u2019ve choked the child cold once we got the kid out the woods he said the man was going to beat him and leave him for the animals\u201d, says Willis<\/em><\/p>\n<p>All it takes for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing. Nice job, Mr. Willis. You trusted your instincts and acted to stop a violent attack on an innocent child\u2026and did it without firing a shot.<\/p>\n<p>Willis\u2019 courage and willingness to get involved earns him our seldom-given \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/?s=gun+hero+of+the+day\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gun Hero of the Day<\/a>\u201d award.
