Gottlieb said in a press release announcing the results. “Trump’s return to the White House in January, coupled with GOP control on Capitol Hill, bodes well for rights which the current administration has tried to trample for the past four years.”

Concerning judges, the polling organization asked survey participants: “How important is it to you to get judges confirmed and nominated to the federal courts who make it a priority to try their best to strictly follow the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution?”

Nearly 76% of respondents answered that having such judges appointed was very (49%) or somewhat important (27%), compared to 15% who said it was not important at all. About 9% of respondents said they didn’t know or refused to answer the question.

The question concerning federal politicians defending Second Amendment rights yielded very similar results. It read: “How important is it to you that our political leaders in Washington, D.C., protect and defend the Second Amendment rights in the U.S. Constitution of law-abiding gun owners?”

For that question, about 77% or respondents answered very (49%) or somewhat important (27%), compared to 15% who said it was not important at all. About 6% of respondents said they didn’t know or refused to answer the question.

Turning to presidential politics, pollsters asked participants if they thought President Donald Trump would prioritize protecting and defending Second Amendment rights. Again, affirmative answers far outweighed those to the negative, with about 63% of participants answering yes and 16% replying no. About 21% of respondents said they didn’t know or refused to answer the question.

Jim McLaughlin, CEO of the nationally renowned polling firm, said the survey results show that Americans still highly cherish their Second Amendment rights.

“Overwhelming majorities of voters want their political leaders in Washington to defend Second Amendment rights (77%),” he said. “Furthermore, three out of four voters (76%) say it is important to nominate and confirm judges to the federal courts who will make it a priority to strictly follow the Second Amendment, and nearly two in three voters (63%) think President Donald Trump will make it a priority to protect and defend the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners. It is safe to say that Americans are clearly excited about the results of the November elections, and the rights of gun owners remain very important to voters.”

Another question on the survey asked which political party in Congress they believed would do a better job of protecting the right to keep and bear arms. About 59% answered Republicans, 24% answered Democrats and the other 17% didn’t know or refused to answer the question.

“This survey underscores the prevailing public perception that Democrats have become the ‘party of gun prohibition,’” SAF’s Gottlieb stated. “The numbers also justify SAF’s commitment to defend the Second Amendment in our various court challenges, winning firearms freedom one lawsuit at a time.”

Source link

Results of a brand-new McGlothlin & Associates survey indicate that the American public favors judges who strictly follow the Second Amendment and politicians who defend the right to keep and bear arms.
