(AP Photo\/Eduardo Verdugo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-next-post-navi\">\n<p>\nNext Post Coming Soon&#8230;\u25b6\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Mexican government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/mexico-needs-to-explain-why-its-military-loses-30-of-the-firearms-it-buys-from-the-u-s\/\">cannot keep its military firearms out of the hands of desperados<\/a> in their nearly failed state, but they thought they could sue American gun makers for a king\u2019s ransom.\u00a0 Their plan, sort of like their attempts to shut down the drug cartels, failed miserably.\u00a0 A federal court judge rejected their lawsuit on a host of grounds on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Now our neighbors from south of the Rio Grande say they will appeal, but talk is cheap. Especially on a lawsuit with more problems than Hunter Biden.<\/p>\n<p>The judge followed the law, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/?s=PLCAA\">PLCAA<\/a>.\u00a0 While a judge\u2019s opinions might be fodder for an appeals court, black letter law is not.\u00a0 Judge F. Dennis Saylor wrote:\u00a0 \u201cWhile the court has considerable sympathy for the people of Mexico, and none whatsoever for those who traffic guns to Mexican criminal organizations, it is duty-bound to follow the law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/business-mexico-caribbean-lawsuits-gun-politics-441dece6a6ff8adb7b222e7d8e7d6286\">From the AP<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Component-root-0-2-49 p Component-p-0-2-40\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>MEXICO CITY (AP) \u2014 A U.S. federal judge on Friday dismissed a lawsuit brought by the Mexican government against U.S. gun manufacturers arguing their commercial practices has led to bloodshed in Mexico.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"Component-root-0-2-49 p Component-p-0-2-40\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Judge F. Dennis Saylor in Boston ruled Mexico\u2019s claims did not overcome the broad protection provided to gun manufacturers by the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act passed in 2005.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"Component-root-0-2-49 p Component-p-0-2-40\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>The law shields gun manufacturers from damages \u201cresulting from the criminal or unlawful misuse\u201d of a firearm.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"Component-root-0-2-49 p Component-p-0-2-40\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cWhile the court has considerable sympathy for the people of Mexico, and none whatsoever for those who traffic guns to Mexican criminal organizations, it is duty-bound to follow the law,\u201d Saylor wrote.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"Component-root-0-2-49 p Component-p-0-2-40\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Mexico\u2019s Foreign Affairs Ministry said it would appeal the decision \u201cand continue insisting that the sale of guns be responsible, transparent and accountable, and that the negligent way in which they are sold in the United States facilitates criminals\u2019 access to them.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"Component-root-0-2-49 p Component-p-0-2-40\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Mexico was seeking at least $10 billion in compensation, but legal experts had viewed the lawsuit as a long shot.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"Component-root-0-2-49 p Component-p-0-2-40\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>The Mexican government argued that the companies know their practices contribute to the trafficking of guns into Mexico and facilitate it.
