Armed with a 9mm handgun, she went to investigate the sounds in her basement where she encountered a man who had entered through a broken window, police and district attorney statements to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/beaver-county-home-invasion-shooting-castle-doctrine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KDKA CBS News<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/2nd-amendment\/2024\/04\/20\/alleged-intruder-dead-women-opens-fire-9mm\/?utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=down-range&amp;utm_campaign=20240421dr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Breitbart<\/a> revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Upon confronting the intruder, the homeowner fired three rounds, fatally wounding the man, identified by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpxi.com\/news\/local\/coroner-called-beaver-falls-incident\/2UUTLCKIZFD6DFY6R3BDXW3VRQ\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WPXI<\/a> as 49-year-old Brent Farmer. Beaver County District Attorney Nate Bible described the moments as \u201cterrifying\u201d for the woman and declared her actions were justified under Pennsylvania\u2019s \u201ccastle doctrine.\u201d This law allows residents to use deadly force to protect themselves against intruders in their homes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere stands this guy who she had no idea who he was, and she ended up shooting him three times and killing him,\u201d Bible told KDKA-TV. He added that from a legal standpoint, \u201cshe did nothing wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Further comments from Bible highlighted the gravity of such decisions by homeowners when facing potential harm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf someone enters your house, they are making that conscious decision. They are there to steal from you or hurt you in other ways.
