The men were observed by one, Linda Hyatt, who told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/usually-safe-quiet-neighbor-da-022845535.html\">News 5<\/a> she sits on her porch almost every day, but before going out Tuesday, April 16, she wisely peeked from behind her curtains first to check what was going on outside and spotted the suspicious ne\u2019er-do-wells.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cCounting the one who was in a wheelchair, they walked down, and then I saw them come back,\u201d Hyatt told News 5. \u201cWhen they came back, they went to that corner apartment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s when Hyatt heard three shots, confirming she had made the right move to look outside and take a pass on sitting on the porch that day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Police reported the men attempted to break into an apartment, when the apartment\u2019s resident opened fire on the invaders. According to Mobile Police, a 23-year-old who was among the criminals was killed and another, 22-year-old Okoye Day, was later arrested in connection with the invasion and charged with burglary and possession of a firearm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As for the apartment\u2019s resident?<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cRight now, at this point in the investigation it appears that this was an acting in self-defense through the course of a home invasion,\u201d Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood said. He pointed out that in Alabama, \u201ccitizens are allowed to defend themselves and others if they feel they are in danger under a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/judicial.alabama.gov\/docs\/library\/docs\/13A-3-23.pdf\">\u2018stand your ground\u2019 law<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There was no word whether the man in the wheelchair was the one who was shot, the one arrested or simply rolled away from the scene unnoticed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The District Attorney\u2019s office is still reviewing the case for additional charges.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/bandits-including-one-in-a-wheelchair-wind-up-on-wrong-end-of-a-gun\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Photo of wheelchair An alleged band of bandits, including one being pushed in a wheelchair, strolled and rolled through a West Mobile, Alabama, apartment complex looking for trouble.
