She did not have much time to devote to a controversy that surfaced last week, when her image and personal information were misappropriated for a social media post by the anti-gun group, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.97percent.us\/\">97Percent<\/a>, as part of its campaign to gaslight the public into falsely believing it is a moderate pro-gun group.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI did not endorse their message. I gave no permission for the photo. It is unfair to use my image and likeness to give the perception that I support what they are all about. I certainly don\u2019t,\u201d Golob told the Second Amendment Foundation last week. \u201cAnd the fact it was used for Women\u2019s History Month is insulting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thegunwriter.substack.com\/p\/despite-its-slick-marketing-la-based\">A special report published by the Second Amendment Foundation last week revealed<\/a> how 97Percent uses slick marketing and an aggressive social media campaign to falsely portray itself as a pro-gun organization comprised of gun owners and non-gun owners, while in reality it is nothing more than a run-of-the-mill anti-gun group, not unlike Everytown, Giffords or Brady.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last Wednesday, ostensibly as part of Women\u2019s History Month, 97Percent posted tweets featuring images and personal information of nine female shooters and\/or leaders within the Second Amendment community \u2013 six living and three deceased. They included Golob, Rhonda Ezell, Robin Sandoval, Lena Miculek, Kim Rhode and Carrie Lightfoot, as well as Lucille Ball, Mary Edwards Walker and Annie Oakley.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_545922\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-545922\" style=\"width: 554px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-545922\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn0.thetruthaboutguns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Julie-Golob-post-554x700.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"554\" height=\"700\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn0.thetruthaboutguns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Julie-Golob-post-554x700.png 554w, https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Julie-Golob-post-238x300.png 238w, https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Julie-Golob-post-768x970.png 768w, https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Julie-Golob-post-1217x1536.png 1217w, https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Julie-Golob-post-150x189.png 150w, https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Julie-Golob-post-300x379.png 300w, https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Julie-Golob-post-696x879.png 696w, https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Julie-Golob-post-1068x1348.png 1068w, https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Julie-Golob-post-333x420.png 333w, https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Julie-Golob-post-560x707.png 560w, https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Julie-Golob-post.png 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 554px) 100vw, 554px\"\/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-545922\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Now deleted post of Julie Golob.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last Thursday, after Golob responded to the post on Twitter\/X and made it clear that she did not give permission to use her likeness or personal information, the group quickly deleted all of its Women\u2019s History Month posts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">97Percent\u2019s executive director, Olivia Troye, said during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2lZKhJW-MsU&amp;t=63s\">a recent appearance on ABC\u2019s The View<\/a>, that her group\u2019s mission is \u201cto bring gun owners into the conversation and to bring them to the table, in order to work on reducing gun deaths happening across the country, while including them in the solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the recent <a href=\"https:\/\/thegunwriter.substack.com\/p\/despite-its-slick-marketing-la-based\">investigation<\/a> by the Second Amendment Foundation revealed that 97Percent supports bans on \u201cassault weapons,\u201d standard-capacity magazines and bump stocks, and has called for permits to carry, purchase and even possess firearms. It supports mandatory background checks and mandatory storage laws and claims the Second Amendment is \u201coverprotected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Troye declined to be interviewed for the previous story, and she did not return emails seeking an explanation for her group\u2019s misuse of the women\u2019s photos and personal information.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagogunsmatter.org\/\">Chicago Guns Matter<\/a> founder Rhonda Ezell pointed out that 97Percent lifted her image <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagogunsmatter.org\/people\/15-rhonda-ezell\">right off of her website<\/a>, without her knowledge or permission.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhen I first saw it, I was shocked,\u201d she told the Second Amendment Foundation. \u201cWhy would an anti-gun group post a picture of me? They never asked to use the photo. This doesn\u2019t make sense. At best, this is theft of intellectual property.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ezell has since contacted an attorney.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI didn\u2019t know of 97Percent. I never interacted with them. They are working against our cause,\u201d she said. \u201cI pick my battles, but I did feel it was rude.
