Mayor Adams campaigned on being a different kind of mayor than <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/not-a-parody-de-blasio-is-planning-to-pay-criminals-convicted-of-gun-crimes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bill de Blasio<\/a><\/strong>. One who would tackle the rising crime problem plaguing the city.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, he\u2019s stolen a page from Mayor Bill de Blasio and instead of taking responsibility, he\u2019s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/new-yorks-mayor-de-blasio-fights-crime-by-aiming-at-law-abiding-citizens-again-still\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lashing out<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Temper tantrums against the firearm industry weren\u2019t a good look for Mayor de Blasio. Mayor Adams\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www1.nyc.gov\/site\/nypd\/news\/p00056\/nypd-citywide-crime-statistics-july-2022#:~:text=Overall%20index%20crime%20in%20New,increase%20in%20robbery%20(1%2C730%20v.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>delivered remarks<\/strong><\/a> to the National Press Club and demanded the media hold the gun industry accountable for his own failures to curb crime in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing he said took responsibility for his own failures to do the job for which he was hired. New York City isn\u2019t just crime plagued. He\u2019s a gun owner and a former police officer and knows better, but he\u2019s putting politics ahead of the truth.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Adams knows that no one in America can legally purchase a gun at retail anywhere unless they pass an FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) verification. It also works to keep guns out of the hands of those who should never possess them, including criminals and children.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Industry Leads with Real Solutions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>That\u2019s why the firearm industry\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nssfrealsolutions.org\/programs\/fixnics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">changed the law<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nssf.org\/articles\/firearm-industry-efforts-to-improve-background-checks-yield-meaningful-results\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>16 states<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and in Congress to make sure all disqualifying information is submitted to the FBI so the background check system works as intended. It\u2019s also why the firearm industry\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nssfrealsolutions.org\/programs\/project-childsafe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">partnered<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0with 15,000 law enforcement agencies in all 50 states and five U.S. territories to distribute over 40 million free gun locks to make sure every gun owner can lock up their gun when they\u2019re not in use.<\/p>\n<p>The firearm industry partners with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nssfrealsolutions.org\/programs\/dont-lie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prevent illegal straw purchases<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0of firearms and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nssfrealsolutions.org\/programs\/operation-secure-store\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>improve security<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0at firearm retailers to deter and prevent criminals from stealing guns.<\/p>\n<p>Those are efforts paid for by the firearm industry. Gun manufacturers are investing in keeping guns out of criminals\u2019 hands. He should demand the media name the politicians who write and sign laws to eliminate bail and push soft-on-crime policies that protect criminals and not victims. He should demand news outlets name the donors who fund the elections of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/amid-rising-crime-and-soaring-drug-use-san-franciscans-boot-a-prosecutor-who-wouldnt-prosecute\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">district attorneys<\/a><\/strong> and attorneys general who won\u2019t do their jobs.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Adams wants to blame an industry for his failures and the failures of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/manhattan-da-tries-to-dodge-blowback-after-his-get-out-of-jail-free-memo-to-prosecutors-went-public\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg<\/a><\/strong>. He refuses to speak the name of George Soros who funded DA Bragg\u2019s election, along with other <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthaboutguns.com\/philadelphias-soros-backed-prosecutor-makes-a-strong-argument-for-constitutional-carry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">failing district attorneys<\/a><\/strong> including DA George Gascon and recalled DA Chesa Boudin.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>More Broken Promises<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Mayor Adams broke his promise to New York City. He hasn\u2019t made the city safer. He\u2019s ceded it to the criminals. He\u2019s allowed overall crime in New York City to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www1.nyc.gov\/site\/nypd\/news\/p00056\/nypd-citywide-crime-statistics-july-2022#:~:text=Overall%20index%20crime%20in%20New,increase%20in%20robbery%20(1%2C730%20v.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>soar 30 percent<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0from one year ago.<\/p>\n<p>The NYPD is doing their part, making nearly 3,000 arrests of criminals committing crimes with illegally-obtained firearms this year alone. They didn\u2019t get those firearms through legal sales. Instead, these criminals are being <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnewyork.com\/news\/local\/crime-and-courts\/manhattan-da-bragg-issues-letter-clarifying-confusion-over-controversial-guidelines\/3535100\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">turned back out<\/a><\/strong> on the streets. They aren\u2019t being held accountable.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Adams\u2019 only answer is \u2013 \u201cblame them.\u201d That plays well to the special-interest gun control political class, but it fails the citizens of New York City.<\/p>\n<p>Hizzoner has broken his promise. He said he would be better than Bill de Blasio. He\u2019s not.
