style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>The shooter who opened fire in Iowa\u2019s Perry High School Thursday morning has been identified as a 17-year-old who was armed with a shotgun and a handgun.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>The Associated Press\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/2nd-amendment\/2024\/01\/04\/iowa-sheriff-unclear-how-many-injured\/\">reported<\/a>\u00a0the 17-year-old shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Assistant Director Mitch Mortved said, \u201cThe shooter made several social media posts in and around the time of the shooting,\u201d CNN <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/us\/live-news\/perry-high-school-shooting-iowa-01-04-24\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">noted<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>A sixth grader was killed in the attack and four other innocents were injured, NBC News\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/live-blog\/live-updates-active-shooting-perry-high-school-rcna132235\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">indicated<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>17-year-old transgendered activist Dylan Butler was named as the would-be killer, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-independent.com\/news\/world\/americas\/crime\/iowa-school-shooting-dylan-butler-final-post-b2473769.html\"><em>UK Independent<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-independent.com\/topic\/iowa\">Iowa<\/a>\u00a0police are now looking into \u201ca number of social media posts\u201d made by the teenager who\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/ap-iowa-police-tiktok-reddit-b2473622.html\">unleashed terror on an Iowa high school on Thursday, killing one victim and injuring five.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Dylan Butler, 17, was named as the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-independent.com\/topic\/gunman\">gunman<\/a>\u00a0who opened fire inside Perry High School in Iowa on Thursday\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/tv\/news\/iowa-shooting-perry-high-school-b2473652.html\">as students returned from their Christmas break.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Butler, a former student at the school,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/crime\/iowa-shooting-perry-high-school-suspect-updates-b2473703.html\">was found dead on the scene.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>The teenager\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/perry-high-school-iowa-shooting-b2473258.html\">\u00a0motive for the attack is now under investigation,<\/a> with authorities looking into \u201ca number of social media posts\u201d he made around the time of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-independent.com\/topic\/shooting\">shooting<\/a>, the <\/em>Des Moines Register<em> reported.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Moments before the shooting, Via X.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>For those keeping track, a majority of school shootings take place first thing in the morning and they originate at or near the front entrance, in part because that\u2019s often where large groups will form.<\/p>\n<p>And this one fell right into that pattern.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the small-town school didn\u2019t have a school resource officer or any armed staff handy to engage the transgendered would-be mass murderer. They didn\u2019t even have a staffer that should have identified someone walking in with something long \u2013 like a shotgun \u2013 concealed in a bag and intercepted him prior to the shooting.<\/p>\n<p>It took seven minutes for the first responding officer to arrive to confront the misfit. In that time he killed a sixth grader and wounded several others.
