Once in a while they will catch bad guys behind the wheel of \u201cjacked rides,\u201d then charge them with Criminal Trespass To Motor Vehicle (CTTV). Why? Because Cook County\u2019s prosecutor Kim Foxx views violent criminals as \u201cvictims.\u201d However, earlier this week, CPD got their carjacker. In fact, the only thing that 18-year-old Darrius Berry didn\u2019t have when police arrived was a bow on top of his sorry head.<\/p>\n<p>See Darrius very politely carjacked a man out of his SUV at 6:30am Tuesday. He told the driver to go into his house and apologized for carjacking him.<\/p>\n<p>So the driver did as he was asked \u2013 he returned to his residence. And he got his gun.<\/p>\n<p>Then the car\u2019s owner saw his car still there and walked back out. He found Darrius texting his physics professor that he would have his dissertation ready for submission on time after all. As Darrius worked those thumbs on his phone, he left his gun on the passenger seat.<\/p>\n<p>At that point the car\u2019s owner walked up and made Darrius an offer he couldn\u2019t refuse. The owner told the media how it went down and they prolly sanitized it a little: \u201cIf you reach for it, I\u2019ll blow your head off,\u201d he supposedly told the tatted <del>thug<\/del>\u00a0scholar in the driver\u2019s seat.<\/p>\n<p>Darrius, the polite \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunssavelife.com\/2024\/01\/03\/more-crime-less-justice-chicago-police-goes-woke-with-new-police-general-order\/\">youth<\/a>,\u201d got out of the car very slowly and laid down on the pavement like a good boy. And he patiently waited for police to rescue him from the pissed off owner of the car.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cwbchicago.com\/2024\/01\/chicago-carjacking-victim-takes-car-back-at-gunpoint.html\">CWB has the deets<\/a>:<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content clearfix\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\n<p><em>CHICAGO \u2014 A Chicago man turned the tables on an armed carjacker who forced him out of his car at gunpoint Tuesday morning: He walked into his nearby home, fetched his own firearm, and forced the carjacker out of his vehicle at gunpoint.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>That\u2019s according to a Chicago police report documenting the arrest of 18-year-old Darrius Berry.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Officers responding to a call of a \u201ccitizen holding an offender\u201d in the 9400 block of South Laflin arrived to find the 39-year-old carjacking victim holding Berry at gunpoint in the street at 6:28 a.m., the report said.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>They detained Berry and asked the man what happened.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>He explained that he was sitting in his 2021 Mazda CX9 when Berry walked up to his driver\u2019s window and pointed a gun at his head.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cPlease give me the keys,\u201d Berry told him, according to the report. \u201cI need your car. I\u2019m sorry, sir\u2026 Go in the house.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>More\u2026<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content clearfix\">\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Judge Susana Ortiz detained Berry at the request of prosecutors.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Likely for his own safety. The homeowner\/car\u2019s owner probably won\u2019t be so patient next time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>He is charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm, misdemeanor possession of a firearm, misdemeanor driving without a license, and traffic infractions.
