The best defensive gun uses, the ones that are clean and pure as the wind-driven snow, will be buried at the earliest opportunity. Meanwhile the media will exploit the others for sensationalism and to further their anti-gun and just-call-911 narratives.<\/p>\n
The media especially love to swarm and feed like piranha when the attacker\u2019s family comes out to claim foul after they\u2019ve been shot, or if there\u2019s the possibility of a racial component.<\/p>\n
Pro-tip: If you\u2019re ever involved in a defensive gun use, do not<\/em> talk with the media. Do not invite them into your home. Do not take calls from them or sit down with them. It\u2019s simple really. Do. Not. Talk. To. The. Media.<\/p>\nTheir story is already written and an interview with you will only dial up the sensationalism. It\u2019ll also give them a chance to portray you, the victim, as a trigger-happy murdering redneck. Or worse.<\/p>\n
Take the recent case of James Rayl of Sydney, Ohio.<\/p>\n
James Rayl couldn\u2019t take a \u201cno\u201d from his ex-girlfriend after the couple broke up. So one Sunday morning, when he should have been at church singing hymns and praising Jesus, he instead went to the ex-girlfriend\u2019s home.<\/p>\nScreencap by Boch via YouTube.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nAt the front door, he was told that the girl didn\u2019t want to talk with him. The girl\u2019s father told Mr. Rayl that if he forced entry, he would be shot.<\/p>\n
Rayl apparently didn\u2019t care\u2026or didn\u2019t believe the warning. He put his shoulder into the front door and after about five or six impacts, the door jam shattered into splinters and swung open. That\u2019s when the girl\u2019s father fired three rounds.<\/p>\nScreencap by Boch via Youtube.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nAll three rounds struck Mr. Rayl, the third one entering his back. Rayl wobbled out to the driveway where he laid down and died.<\/p>\n
