In a bid to tamp down the rampant violent crime that has only accelerated since his election, Mayor Brandon Johnson proposes using the \u201cfull force of government\u201d to solve the problem by\u2026issuing reparations checks to descendants of slaves.<\/p>\n<p>This from the guy who runs America\u2019s largest open-air shooting gallery. In fact, the city of Chicago <a href=\"https:\/\/heyjackass.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">by itself<\/a> typically accounts for nearly 4% of <a href=\"https:\/\/knoema.com\/atlas\/United-States-of-America\/Number-of-homicides\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">America\u2019s homicides<\/a> while comprising about .8% of the country\u2019s population.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/political\/chicago-mayors-grand-plan-stop-crime-crisis-are-reparation-checks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>ZeroHedge<\/em> had the announcement<\/a> Johnson made to a sympathetic lapdog at CNN:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson wants to pay off \u2018descendants of enslaved African Americans\u2019 with reparation checks every month to end the \u201ccycle of violence\u201d in the crime-ridden metro area run by radical progressives.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>While speaking to Poppy Harlow on \u201cCNN This Morning\u201d Wednesday, Johnson acknowledged Chicago was plagued with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/political\/spree-robberies-car-thefts-drive-chicago-crime-new-highs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">out-of-control violent crime<\/a>\u00a0and declared that the \u201cfull force of government\u201d would solve the crisis. The brilliant idea from the mayor: $500,000 in reparation checks.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cThese are the\u00a0first dollars spent in this city\u00a0to begin the process of studying both restoration and\u00a0reparations,\u201d Johnson said.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>He said, \u201cWhen residents who have experienced neglect and disinvestment for generations speak out of their pain and their trauma, this administration and the Black Caucus we hear you.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Johnson somehow neglected to mention that the Democrat Party has run Chicago for almost a century. Hence any \u201cneglect and disinvestment\u201d came on his own party\u2019s watch. Furthermore, neither Johnson nor the Illinois Black Caucus had any announcements relating to reparations checks for the families of Union soldiers who died fighting to end slavery.<\/p>\n<p>While Murder City USA\u2019s homicides have <a href=\"https:\/\/heyjackass.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eased by about 10% over last year,<\/a> violent robberies and carjackings have skyrocketed along with most other serious crimes.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Chicago?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Chicago<\/a>\u2019s crime wave is still on the move.<\/p>\n<p>YTD 2023 major <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/crimes?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#crimes<\/a> are 34% higher than in 2022, which in turn was 33% percent higher than in 2021. Gang members don\u2019t care at all about the rule of law. They illegally posses and brandish guns made illegal-er by Pritzker\u2019s new PICA gun ban. Then they implemented a 10-20-Life law. Bad guys toting guns in the commission of violent crimes got a 10-year sentencing enhancement on top of the underlying crime. There were no options for plea bargains, probation or early release. That was hard time.<\/p>\n<p>Thugs that discharged their guns picked up twenty extra years, effectively taking them out of circulation for a generation. And if their shots wounded or killed anyone, they got a 25-years to life enhancement, keeping them locked up for even longer.<\/p>\n<p>With a few short years under 10-20-Life, Florida\u2019s firearm violent crime numbers <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.naplesnews.com\/news\/state\/florida-firearm-violence-hits-record-low-concealed-gun-permits-up-ep-385309911-342291771.html\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fell to historic lows<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Contrast Florida\u2019s response to real-world Chicago, where armed carjackers are tossed back onto the streets without bail.
